• Noel O'Neill, 30, convicted of oral rape of child in Edenderry, Co Offaly Rape (oral rape of a child) · Co. Offaly

Noel O'Neill (30), of Castlekeely Lawn, Daingean, Co Offaly, was convicted after a trial at the Central Criminal Court of three counts of raping a child by putting his penis into her mouth. The offences took place at his former family home in Edenderry, Co Offaly, between October 2012, when he was 17, and October 2018, when he was 22, against a girl aged between six and 12. The victim first disclosed the abuse to her mother in 2021, and as an adult she waived her anonymity so that O'Neill could be identified. O'Neill pleaded not guilty and denied the allegations, and Justice Eileen Creedon adjourned sentencing to 15 June 2026 with him remanded in custody. On 15 June 2026 he was jailed for nine years, after an 11-year headline sentence was reduced by one year and the final year suspended, and he was ordered to be registered as a sex offender.
