Noel Devaney (36) of Longford was charged with seven fraud and money laundering offences, including handling €350 of criminal proceeds at the Bank of Ireland, 68 Main Street, Longford, and alleged fraudulent Covid payments. The State alleges his bank account was used to move money after he fell into debt to money lenders, and two women, one from Laois and one from Sligo, were the injured parties, who have since been reimbursed. The case was adjourned in November 2023 to March 2024 for facts and penalty, and in March 2024 he was remanded to December 17 on condition that he pay €750 to the court poor box. In December 2024 he pleaded guilty to all seven charges at Longford District Court and had paid the €750, and he was remanded on continuing bail to June 3, 2025, with no sentence yet imposed.
