On 9 December 2025 at about 11:15pm, two men approached a Chinese man in his late 30s who had stopped in traffic while cycling near St John's Square in Limerick, grabbed him, knocked him to the ground, punched him and took his phone. Gardaí on patrol saw the attack, and Nigel Price, aged 31, was apprehended shortly after the two men tried to flee. Price pleaded guilty at Limerick Circuit Court to one count of robbery arising from the incident. On 4 August 2026, Judge Colin Daly imposed a three-year headline sentence, with the final 18 months suspended for three years on a €100 own bond and backdated to 10 December 2025, when Price entered custody.
