On Wednesday 11 March 2026 at about 3pm, a man in his 50s was seriously assaulted with a baseball bat in McIntosh Park, Cabinteely, Dublin 18, and was taken to St Vincent's Hospital, where he remains in serious condition. Gardaí arrested a man in his 30s, and Nigel Kennedy, 31, of McIntosh Park, was later charged with assault causing harm, robbery, violent disorder and dangerous driving, which he is alleged to have committed. Kennedy did not appear at Dún Laoghaire District Court on Friday 13 March 2026, and Judge Anne Watkin remanded him in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court on 18 March 2026, where gardaí will oppose bail.

Nigel Kennedy, who the Irish Times reports is 29, was arrested by Cabinteely detectives on Tuesday 5 December 2023 over two alleged knifepoint robberies on the night of Tuesday 21 November 2023 at a service station on Clonkeen Road and a pharmacy on Foxrock Avenue in south Dublin. He was charged, and on Wednesday 6 December 2023 he appeared before Dún Laoghaire District Court, where no bail application was made. Judge Anne Watkin remanded him in custody to Cloverhill Prison for one week pending a bail application, and the latest development is that remand. Investigations are ongoing.
