  On January 28, 2024, a driver hit a parked car shortly after midnight in the Edgeworthstown area of County Longford and left the scene. Nicola Garry, 24, of Edgeworthstown, pleaded guilty to careless driving and failing to remain at the scene. Gardaí searched for the vehicle at the scene without finding it, then located it on a laneway in Edgeworthstown the following morning. At sentencing, reported on January 15, 2025, the judge imposed no driving ban and fined her €500 for careless driving, payable over five months, and €200 for failing to remain at the scene.
