  Niamh O'Brien, 28, was charged with intoxication and using threatening, abusive or insulting words at Market Square, Portlaoise on October 17, 2021, after calling Garda Power a 'smelly wh***' and a 'c***' following drinks and cocktails. At Portlaoise district court, she had no previous convictions and was described as a married woman with three children. She presented a letter of apology to Garda Power and €50, which Judge Catherine Staines directed to the Garda Benevolent Fund. The judge sought a Restorative Justice report for March 3.
