latest first- High Court freezes assets in Dublin cryptocurrency fraud case Fraud (misappropriation of cryptocurrency) · Co. Dublin
Niall Ryan, an account manager subcontracted to Light Technology Limited trading as Transak, is alleged to have diverted cryptocurrency payments into eight digital wallets he controlled by altering wallet addresses on invoices. The diverted payments date back to March 2022, and the fraud was discovered in early August 2022 when expected revenue did not match actual revenue. The High Court granted temporary orders on an ex-parte basis freezing Ryan's assets and preventing him from moving cryptocurrency in the identified wallets. He was ordered not to reduce his assets below €462,000, and the case was made returnable the following week.
