latest first- Man convicted of using a false instrument at Kilkenny District Court Using a false instrument · Co. Kilkenny
Niall Canning, a man from Graignamanagh, pleaded guilty to using a false instrument at the National Driver Licence Service in Kilkenny on 11 October 2019. He had bought a false UK driving licence for £200 from a man he met in a pub in the 1990s while working in construction in London, and used it for years before applying for a licence on his return. The DVLA learned from UK authorities that Canning had never held a full UK driving licence and alerted gardaí. Judge Geraldine Carthy convicted Canning at Kilkenny District Court and fined him €300. He has since obtained a full Irish driving licence.
