  A group of children, including a girl aged around eight and several boys between 12 and 14, allegedly assaulted and racially abused six-year-old girl Nia Naveen outside her home in the Kilbarry area of Waterford City on the evening of 4 August 2025. The children are alleged to have punched her on the face and neck, twisted her hair, pushed a bicycle wheel onto her private parts, and told her she was a dirty Indian who should go back to India. Gardaí confirmed a criminal investigation into the alleged assault and racial abuse and visited the family home to update the mother. Officers are carrying out patrols in the area of the alleged attack.
