latest first- Man convicted of Ennis murder launches appeal Murder · Co. Clare
Nassar Ahmed, a 45-year-old man originally from Sudan, stabbed Eoin Boylan, a 32-year-old man, three times with a concealed knife at Gordon Drive, Cloughleigh, Ennis, Co Clare, on 14 April 2020 during the first coronavirus lockdown. Ahmed presented himself at Ennis Garda Station the same afternoon and was arrested on suspicion of assault causing harm. He was convicted of murder by a unanimous jury at the Central Criminal Court in June 2022 and sentenced to mandatory life imprisonment in July 2022. An inquest in Kilrush in 2024 found Boylan died as a result of murder. Ahmed launched an appeal before the Court of Appeal on 8 December 2025, with judgment reserved.
