latest first- Coroner returns accidental death verdict in Dublin cycling accident Death (accident) · Co. Dublin
Thirteen-year-old man Naoise O'Sullivan died on 11 August 2020 after a crash while mountain biking on the Skyline trail at Ticknock Forest, Dublin. He was riding with two friends and wearing a full face helmet, gloves and knee pads. The pathologist found no acute external injuries and determined he died from a traumatic spinal cord injury consistent with a fall from a bike that made breathing impossible. The Skyline trail had been inspected earlier that day and found to be in good condition. In August 2022 the coroner returned a verdict of accidental death, and his parents called for a change in Garda policy on access to accident scenes.
