• Man convicted of Ballyshannon burglary adjourned for sentencing Burglary · Co. Donegal

On 15 May 2026, a mobile phone, watch, jewellery, and binoculars valued at approximately €250 were stolen from Woodlands Cottage, Carrickboy, Ballyshannon. Mykhailo Bruhosh, 22, a Ukrainian man from Bundoran, was arrested a short distance from the property after his two children were seen leaving over a hedge, and the stolen items were found on him. He pleaded guilty at Ballyshannon District Court in June 2026, where Judge Éiteáin Cunningham ordered a probation report and noted the presence of his two children as an aggravating factor. In October 2026, the case was adjourned to 15 January 2027 as the Probation Service requested more time, and his defence solicitor withdrew due to the national legal dispute.
