In court, 10 Feb 2022Accused, suspect · 3 reports - Two men arrested over attempted murder in Finglas Shooting (attempted murder) · Co. Dublin
Shots were fired at a taxi carrying Mr Flashy and a close associate on Tolka Valley Road in Finglas, Dublin 11, at around 3pm on 20 June 2022, with no injuries reported. The attack is believed to be revenge for the 3 April 2022 murder of James Whelan, 29, who was shot in the back after petrol-bombing a property linked to an associate of his. Two men, one in his 20s and one in his 30s, were arrested and detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Finglas Garda Station, and a van and the taxi were seized for examination. The associate who was with Mr Flashy in the taxi is the chief suspect in the gun murder of Whelan.
Arrested, 20 Jun 2022Victim · 2 reports - Murder under investigation after Finglas gangland shooting Shooting (murder) · Co. Dublin
James Whelan, a 29-year-old father of one, was shot dead in the Deanstown Avenue area of Finglas, Dublin 11, at approximately 4.30am on Sunday 3 April 2022. The killing is linked to a feud between two Finglas-based gangs, and Whelan's associates identified Mr Flashy as being behind the murder, though no one has been arrested or charged. A murder investigation was launched on 3 April 2022, the post-mortem was completed by Chief State Pathologist Dr. Linda Mulligan, and the scene was preserved for Garda Technical Bureau examination. Whelan was buried at Dardistown Cemetery on 13 April 2022, and the investigation remains ongoing with no arrests made.
