  A dental surgeon, Mohammed Shirin, aged 28, of Stillorgan, Dublin, was detected driving at 184kph in a 100kph zone on the M6 at Kilbeggan, Westmeath, on 11 August 2024. He was summonsed on two counts of dangerous driving and appeared at Tullamore District Court in April 2025 without legal representation. His defence said he was travelling to perform an emergency operation. On 4 June 2025, after making a €10,000 donation to the Jack and Jill Foundation, the judge reduced the charge to careless driving and he was convicted and fined €750.
