  Modestas Kubilius, whose age and nationality are not given in the sources, refused to pay a €21 taxi fare at McDonalds, Monread Road, Naas, at about 1.45am on 16 December 2022, and the taxi driver drove him to Naas garda station. Sgt Dave Hanrahan said he was intoxicated and abusive to gardaí there, and that a small pocket knife was found when he was searched; it was also claimed he tried to damage the car, while another account says he only punched the taxi dashboard without causing damage. He was prosecuted for refusing to pay the fare, possession of a blade and a Public Order Act offence. At Naas District Court his solicitor indicated a guilty plea, the case was adjourned to 18 October, and Judge Desmond Zaidan granted free legal aid; the latest development, reported on 21 November 2023, is that he was fined €750, €150 and €400 for the three offences.
