    On 23 December 2023 at around 7pm, a man was arrested for being drunk at Boughlone Way, Bellingham, Portlaoise, Co. Laois, and gardaí said he was taken into custody for his own safety. Miles Connors, a 51-year-old man of Churchfield Heights, Castletown, was later brought before Portlaoise District Court, where he admitted being intoxicated in a public place. Reported on 21 January 2024, Judge Nicola Andrews fined him €150 and gave him six months to pay.
