    Revenue officers seized 64kg of vacuum-packed cannabis with an estimated street value of €1.28m from four suitcases at Shannon Airport on 23 December 2024, after two women disembarked from a flight from Boston. Dovil Reifonaite, 40, and Migle Kurieniute, 20, both of Newlands, Mullingar, County Westmeath, were arrested by Revenue officers under the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 and charged with possession of cannabis for sale or supply and possession of cannabis. They appeared before Limerick District Court on Christmas Eve, where Judge Alec Gabbett refused bail following Garda objections, and were remanded in custody. They appeared by video link at Ennis District Court on 31 December 2024 and 8 January 2025, and were further remanded in custody to appear on 22 January 2025.
