Mícheal Mannion, a 41-year-old man and former garda, was convicted in 2023 of two charges of harassing two female colleagues at Clifden Garda Station in Co Galway after CCTV showed him climbing an outdoor steel railing on six occasions between August and November 2019 to look into the women's changing room. He was sentenced to six months in prison at Galway District Court in October 2023. On appeal at Galway Circuit Court in March 2024, his sentence was reduced to three-month concurrent terms, with the start of the jail term deferred to allow care arrangements for his daughter. He had also denied a further charge of harassing another woman garda colleague.
