On 9 April 2022, Micheal Broe, 29, of Killaloe, Co Clare, was seen veering across the road in a Volkswagen Jetta on the M7 at Moore Abbey Demesne, Monasterevin, Co Kildare, before it hit the central median barrier. A drug test indicated cocaine at 513.1 mgs/ml, which the judge said was ten times the limit. Broe admitted dangerous driving, drug driving, giving a false name and address, and driving without insurance, a driving licence, tax or NCT. At Portlaoise District Court, reported in April 2024, the judge imposed a six-month sentence to start when his current sentence expires and a 20-year driving ban, and recognisance was fixed in case of appeal.
