latest first- Open verdict at inquest into fatal M50 taxi crash in Dublin Road traffic incident (fatal) · Co. Dublin
Michael Sterio, 70, a married father of six from Knocklyon, Co Dublin, died instantly on 8 September 2020 when his silver Renault Fluence taxi veered off the southbound M50 between Junctions 12 and 13 into a tipper truck parked on the hard shoulder after a tyre blow-out. The inquest heard that the taxi drifted across with no indicator and that the parked truck had no hazard lights on. The post-mortem found no evidence of an acute medical event or alcohol, and the brake light indicated conscious control of the vehicle. No criminal prosecution arose from the case. An open verdict was returned at the inquest on 27 September 2022.
