On 9 February 2023, brothers Michael Quilligan Jnr, 35, and Sam Quilligan, 34, were involved in a violent disorder incident on a busy Limerick road at Long Pavement Halting Site, following an allegation that a child had been struck by a car. Armed men weaved through traffic, cars were driven at individuals and rammed into each other, leaving one man with a skull fracture and brain bleed, Sam with a lost finger, and Michael in a high dependency unit for several days. Both pleaded guilty to violent disorder. On 20 August 2023, Michael was sentenced to a consecutive two-and-a-half-year term with the last 18 months suspended, and Sam to a two-and-a-half-year term with the last 12 months suspended, backdated to 9 February 2023.
