Sean Murphy, 29, stabbed his housemate Michael Olohan, 35, three times in the chest with a fish-filleting knife on 13 August 2020 at their shared apartment on St Lawrence Road, Clontarf, Dublin. Olohan walked to a rear garden in the complex where he collapsed and died from severe bleeding. Murphy went to Clontarf Garda Station within minutes and told a garda he should be arrested, and he has since pleaded not guilty to murder. The trial before Ms Justice Mary Ellen Ring at the Central Criminal Court has heard the prosecution seek a verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity while the defence argues manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility. The jury is set to begin deliberations.
