Michael Lynch, a 19-year-old man from Bells Well, Daingean, Co. Offaly, appeared at Tullamore District Court on a Section 99 re-entry for failing to pay €6,000 compensation to the victim of an earlier assault for which he had been convicted; the incident date is not given. The judge said that assault caused serious harm and knocked out two teeth. His solicitor, Brian Duffy, said Lynch was on social welfare, could not pay, and that the non-payment was not wilful, and that €1,000 had been paid.
