Michael Gladyszewski, a 45-year-old Polish man originally from Lublin who had lived in Ireland for about 10 years and had been married less than a year, was fatally stabbed at his home at 63 Westbury Woods, Enniscorthy, County Wexford, on the evening of 25 May 2023. Adrian Zelek, 21, a man from Westbury Wood, Enniscorthy, who is alleged to be the victim's stepson, was arrested at 9.45pm that night and charged with murder, assaulting and obstructing gardaí, two counts of attempting to escape custody, and production of a weapon at Enniscorthy Garda Station on 28 May. He appeared at Gorey District Court on 28 May, where the judge ordered psychological and medical assessments, granted legal aid, and remanded him in custody. The case was adjourned to 12 June on 1 June while awaiting a DPP direction.
