Michael Geoghegan, a 43-year-old man from Swords, Co Dublin, carried out two armed robberies at a Lidl supermarket and an attempted robbery at a Boylesports bookmakers on 13 November 2025, using an Airsoft gun that looked like a real firearm. He was identified from CCTV footage, made full admissions to gardaí, and pleaded guilty to the three offences. He has been in custody since the date of the offences. Judge Orla Crowe at Swords Circuit Court sentenced him to five years in prison (the case title states six years), noting his 71 previous convictions and that he was serving a two-year suspended sentence at the time.
