    Peter O'Brien, 81, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his daughter Sinead Masterson after he set fire to the family home near Slane, Co Meath, on 19 May 2021. Sinead Masterson was seriously injured in the blaze and died on 16 December 2021, while her mother Maureen O'Brien, 80, also suffered burns. The case was heard at Trim Circuit Court before Judge Martina Baxter, where victim impact statements were heard. Sentencing was adjourned to 7 October 2022.
