On 5 May 2022 a Maltese Terrier died after a neighbour's mongrel-type dog attacked it at Grange House, Logavinshire, Crecora, County Limerick. The Maltese Terrier's owner is a woman, and the suspect is Matthew Ryan, aged 63, of Ballinroche East, Crecora. Ryan was charged with having an uncontrolled dog under the Control of Dogs Act. On 22 May 2023, at Newcastle West Court, he pleaded guilty and his solicitor asked for no conviction, and the judge said she would strike the matter out if he paid €150 to the court poor box.
