    Mary O'Shea, a woman in her 50s who was a local farmer, historian and writer, was killed when a branch fell on her while she was cutting timber at her farm in Raheen, Piltown, on the Kilkenny/Waterford border at around 5pm on Saturday 19 November 2022. Gardaí were called to the scene by ambulance services and she was pronounced dead at the scene, with her body later removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford. A file was prepared for the coroner and foul play was ruled out, with her death confirmed as a tragic accident.
