  A 34-year-old Dublin man was jailed for six and a half years at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 30 May 2022 after pleading guilty to dangerous driving, endangerment, criminal damage, driving without a licence or insurance, and robbery. He had led gardaí on a high-speed chase along the M50 with his partner and two young children in the car after a theft from Boots chemist in Dundrum in March 2021, and also pleaded guilty to a September 2020 robbery of a Tesco Metro at Terenure. In a separate matter heard the same day, Mary Kennedy, 46, a woman, was jailed for two years for stealing over €670,000 from St Columcille's Hospital over 16 years. Her brother-in-law Paul Leeson, 48, a man, received a two-year sentence suspended in full for possessing the proceeds of crime.

  Mary Kennedy, 46, a woman, and Paul Leeson, 48, a man, were sentenced at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 30 May 2022 for a scheme in which Kennedy stole over €670,000 from the State over 16 years at St Columcille's Hospital, Loughlinstown. Kennedy, a hospital accounts worker employed from 1998, arranged cheques to be made out to doctors not on the payroll and diverted the funds into her own account, later routing payments through Leeson's account when the system was computerised in 2019. The fraud was discovered in November 2020 when an audit revealed payments to doctors not on the hospital payroll. Kennedy pleaded guilty to 16 counts of theft and two counts of fraud and was sentenced to two years in prison, while Leeson pleaded guilty to one count of possessing the proceeds of crime and received a two-year sentence suspended in full.
