Keith Lennon, 23, a man from Dromintee, Co Armagh, was driving a 3-litre Audi at 225km/h while making two Snapchat videos totalling 14 seconds when he hit the back of a Peugeot 108 on the N1 at Carrickarnon, Dundalk, Co Louth, just after 2am on 29 February 2020, killing Mary Faxton, 82, and her son Kevin Faxton, 58, from Bessbrook, Co Armagh, and his passenger Bryan Magill, 24, from Newry, Co Down. Lennon took himself to Dundalk Garda Station the next day and later pleaded guilty to three counts of manslaughter at Dundalk Circuit Criminal Court. In February 2021, Judge Marina Baxter sentenced him to nine years in prison and banned him from driving for 20 years. On 1 April 2022, the Court of Appeal upheld the sentence, with Mr Justice Birmingham describing the Snapchat videos as the factor that set the case apart.
