• Man jailed for attempted armed robbery at Clonmany post office Attempted armed robbery · Co. Donegal

Barry Reddan, a 65-year-old man from Derry, walked into Clonmany Post Office armed with a gun on 11 November 2020, told post mistress Mary Brennan he was from the IRA, and demanded money, but no money was taken. CCTV from several locations identified a white Ford Fiesta van later traced to Reddan, and he was arrested following a Garda investigation. He pleaded guilty to a single charge of attempted robbery at Letterkenny Circuit Court. The judge reduced the sentence from eight years to five and a half years, with the final 12 months suspended, and Reddan was jailed for four and a half years.
