Martins Lavrinovics (33), of Newbridge, Co Kildare, was charged with assaulting a Lidl manager by spitting at them at the Lidl store in Portlaoise, Co Laois, on 5 March 2024. He was also charged with engaging in threatening or abusive behaviour. Lavrinovics was convicted at Portlaoise District Court, where he was not legally represented, and given a two-month sentence suspended for two years. The conviction and suspended sentence were reported on 15 July 2025.
