A Staffordshire Bull Terrier, described as resembling a pit bull, owned by Martina Brennan, 42, a woman, attacked a Schnauzer and a 12-year-old girl on Main Street, Prosperous, Kildare, at around 3:30pm on 23 January 2022, in an incident lasting 10 minutes. The girl sustained minor injuries while the Schnauzer was rushed to an emergency out-of-hours vet in Kildare Town. Gardaí investigated the dog offences and Brennan was prosecuted for breaching the Control of Dogs Act. At Naas District Court in February 2023, she was banned from owning a pet for ten years and fined €500.
