On 21 July 2021 a vehicle driven by Martin Treacy (60) of Donegal Town was stopped at Tullygallan, Donegal, and he was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. At a special sitting of Ballyshannon District Court on a Monday, reported on 18 April 2023, three garda witnesses gave evidence and the judge ruled the arrest and detention lawful. A later breath reading of 67 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath was recorded, and Treacy was convicted of drink driving, fined €300 and disqualified from driving for three years.
