Martin Sands, a 29-year-old man, was caught holding around €11,000 of cannabis at Robert Emmet Close, Dublin City centre, on 11 October 2019. He had agreed to hold the drugs for another individual to pay off a drug debt accrued through his own consumption of cocaine. Sands pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis for sale or supply at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. On 2 December 2021, Judge Melanie Greally sentenced him to three years' imprisonment, suspended in its entirety on strict conditions.
