Two Dublin men were arrested by gardaí from Coolock and Raheny and charged with organised crime offences. Douglas 'Dougie' Purcell, 42, and Martin Purcell, 20, both men from Newtown Court Campsite in Belcamp, appeared in court on 26 July 2024. The older Purcell is accused of committing a serious offence for a criminal organisation, enhancing the ability of a criminal organisation, demanding money with menaces, and making a threat to kill, while the younger Purcell is charged with committing a serious offence for the benefit of a criminal organisation under Section 73 of the Criminal Justice Act. Both men were granted bail with conditions and are due back in court in September for service of the book of evidence.
