On 6 May 2021, Garda Mark Rabbitte pursued an Audi and a VW Passat through Roscrea, Tipperary, after detecting the Audi at 98km/h in a 50km/h zone. The chase continued along the bypass where speeds of up to 165km/h were recorded in a 60km/h zone at Benamore. men Martin Pratt, 23, and Jason O'Rouke, 30, were charged with dangerous driving; Pratt pleaded guilty while O'Rouke contested three charges. In June 2023, Pratt was sentenced to four months in prison, suspended for two years, and disqualified for six years, while O'Rouke was disqualified for two years and fined €500.
