Martin Hannon (43), a Shannon carpenter, posted on Facebook in November 2023 calling two men 'sick paedos' who had allegedly tried to grab a 13-year-old girl into a car, claims the sources describe as false. Gardaí became aware of the post on 7 November 2023, and Hannon pleaded guilty to a stalking offence against the two men at Ennis Circuit Court in August 2025, when sentencing was adjourned to the autumn and he was remanded on bail. By 30 September 2025, Judge Francis Comerford had imposed a fully suspended 32-month prison term, a €5,000 fine and an order to stay off social media for the suspended period.
