A man, Martin Gallagher (57), was accused of smashing windows and doors at the Clonfad, Dalystown, Mullingar home of a woman he had previously been in a 15-year relationship with on 26 April 2023, causing damage valued at €9,114, and of producing a crowbar on the same occasion. Gardaí quickly located him, and he was charged under the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act. At Tullamore District Court on 12 September 2023, €9,114 in compensation was brought to court and the case was adjourned to 18 October. He pleaded guilty in October 2023, and on 21 November 2023 he received a three-month sentence suspended for three years, with fines and a €2,000 payment to gardaí.
