Martin Foley, a 75-year-old convicted criminal known as 'The Viper' and a former member of Martin Cahill's gang, is fighting the Criminal Assets Bureau's bid to seize and sell his home at Cashel Avenue, Kimmage, Dublin, over unpaid tax debts of almost €1 million dating from 1993 to 2000. In March 2025, Judge Fiona O'Sullivan in the Circuit Civil Court ordered Foley to pay the debt within 18 months or CAB could take possession of the property, and rejected his wife Sonia's claim to a half-share interest. Foley has since challenged the order in the High Court, and in September 2026 the court issued a stay on the sale. The High Court challenge was adjourned by consent in early October 2026 and again on 29 October 2026 due to the unavailability of judges, with the case set to be heard the following Monday.
