On Sunday 27 September 2020, Longford Garda station received calls about a grey Nissan Micra behaving suspiciously, and at about 12:20pm officers on patrol on the Strokestown Road saw it overtaking vehicles and moving into the opposite lane near Clondra, Longford. The car lost control after pulling onto the hard shoulder at Fisherstown and had stopped by the time the patrol car arrived. Martin Doyle, a 21-year-old man, was convicted of dangerous driving in his absence at Longford District Court, where Judge Deirdre Gearty issued a bench warrant after he failed to attend, and this was reported in August 2024.
