latest first- Three murder convicts argue for extended appeal time in Dublin Murder (three separate convictions · Co. Dublin
Three men, all 17 at the time, were convicted of murdering Irish David Byrne, aged 19, in 2011, Martin Brophy, aged 22, in 2012, and Irish Adam 'Floater' Muldoon, aged 23, in 2018, in Dublin. All three pleaded not guilty, were sentenced to life in prison, and subsequently lost appeals against their convictions. The Criminal Justice (Amendment) Act 2024 removed the mandatory life sentence for those who commit murder under 18 but turn 18 before sentencing. On 17 April 2026, the three men, now aged 32, 25, and 31, appeared before the Court of Appeal arguing for an extension of time to appeal their sentences. Mr Justice John Edwards, presiding over the three-judge court, reserved judgment to a later date.
