  On 2 July 2025, gardaí searched the home of Mark Ramsey, a 34-year-old man from Ballyderowen, Burnfoot, Donegal, and found a small bag of suspected cannabis valued at about €20 in his bedroom, which was seized. On 3 July 2025, at Buncrana Garda Station, Mr Ramsey said the substance was cannabis and that it was for his own personal use. He was charged with possession of drugs under Section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act and, in May 2026, was convicted at Buncrana District Court in his absence and fined €180, with four months allowed for payment. The conviction and fine are the latest development in the case.
