Mark McDaid, a man in his 40s from the Carndonagh area of north Donegal, was struck by a car while walking along the N83 at Cahervoley, Cummer near Tuam, Co. Galway, shortly after 12:30am on Sunday 27 November 2022. He had driven almost 300km to visit his brother Adrian, who was being treated at University Hospital Galway for serious injuries sustained while working on a boat in Rossaveal harbour. McDaid was taken to University Hospital Galway where he was pronounced dead; the driver, a man in his 30s, did not require hospital treatment. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators attended the scene and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage from the area.
