Mark Leonard, 30, a man from Coolock, North Dublin, was convicted by a jury of raping and assaulting Mary Jordan, 33, a woman, multiple times between January 2016 and September 2019 during a relationship. He had pleaded not guilty to charges of anal rape, two counts of oral rape, false imprisonment and assault causing harm, but was found guilty after a nine-day trial. Mr Justice Burns imposed concurrent sentences totalling 11 years, with the final year suspended on strict conditions, and Leonard was placed on the sex offenders register. In August 2024, Jordan waived her right to anonymity and revealed photos of Leonard, describing the abuse as years of torture.

Mary O'Donnell, a 33-year-old woman, was raped and regularly beaten by her partner Mark Leonard, a 30-year-old man, over a number of years between January 2016 and September 2019 in Dublin. She made a complaint to gardaí in October 2019, after which Leonard was arrested and made no comment. He pleaded guilty to seven charges of assault causing harm and was convicted by a Central Criminal Court jury of assault, false imprisonment and three charges of rape. On 29 July 2024, Leonard was jailed for 10 years, with concurrent sentences of 11 years and the final year suspended on strict conditions.
