On 9 May 2021, Mark Fox, a 29-year-old man from Clane, County Kildare, drove a Nissan Qashqai on three tyres at speeds over 100kmph from Dublin city centre, throwing bags of suspected cocaine from the open door. He was pursued by several patrol cars and a helicopter over 28km, ramming two garda vehicles before being stopped at Clane Road, Celbridge, County Kildare. He was found to have almost three times the legal alcohol limit and was charged with eight offences including dangerous driving, drink driving, resisting arrest, and driving without a licence. In June 2022, he pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court and received a three-and-a-half-year suspended sentence and a five-year driving disqualification.
