  A motorist, Mark Farrell, 47, collided with another car at Ryebridge Avenue, Kilcock, County Kildare, at around 3.25am on 16 August 2025, causing considerable damage, and left the scene. He was charged with failing to give information about the accident, and a charge of failing to report it was taken into consideration. His solicitor said he was heavily medicated and that the medication made him fall asleep at the wheel. Judge Desmond Zaidan imposed a €1,000 fine at Naas District Court, with no disqualification, as reported on 19 August 2026.
