latest first- Kilkenny murder convict given day release ahead of parole hearing Murder · Co. Kilkenny
Mark Costigan, who was 16 at the time, knifed Christine Quinn, 36, to death at her home at Greenfields, Kilkenny city, on 5 December 2002. She was stabbed 35 times and sustained 69 knife injuries, and Costigan set three fires at the house to destroy evidence. A jury convicted him of murder two years later and he was sentenced to life in prison. He is held at Mountjoy jail in Dublin, having had a previous temporary release in 2020. His son Ronan Quinn called a recent day release for Costigan to visit family in Kilkenny a slap in the face, and a parole hearing is scheduled for next month.
