  A man in his late 30s was assaulted with a slash hook at a residential property in Ballinacurra Weston, Limerick, at approximately 3am on Sunday 6 March 2022, and was treated at Cork University Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Mark Connery, a 50-year-old Limerick man, was arrested at the scene and charged under the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act 1990, while a juvenile was arrested in a follow-up search the same evening. Connery appeared before Limerick District Court on 7 March 2022, where Judge Patricia Harney granted him bail on conditions. He was remanded on bail to appear before Limerick District Court on 6 July 2022 for directions from the DPP.
