• Man remanded after threatening to kill woman with knife in Skibbereen Assault · Co. Cork

  Marius Karanauskas, a 45-year-old man, was remanded in custody on 30 March 2022 after being charged with threatening to kill a woman with a knife at The Square, Skibbereen, following a dog fight between his dog and two of the woman's dogs. He was detained at Clonakilty Garda Station and appeared before a special sitting of Macroom District Court, where he was remanded until 12 April. Separately, a male of unknown age was hospitalised with serious injuries after an assault at the Boardwalk in Cork city centre at approximately 5pm on 30 March 2022, and another male was detained. Gardaí's investigation into the Cork city assault was ongoing.

  On 29 March 2022, a woman was threatened at knifepoint while walking her dogs in Skibbereen, West Cork, after her dogs got into a fight with the suspect's dog.
